Prince & Jimi Rejoice: Introducing 2018's Color of the Year!

"Inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come."

The color God’s have spoken and 2018's color of the year is…Ultra Violet! If you love Prince as much as we do, you’re just as excited as we are! Every year the Pantone Color Institute chooses a hue that encompasses fashion trends, home décor, and even “what’s needed in the world”.

What does ultraviolet mean to us and the world? Well…

If you take a look at history, violet has been synonymous with royalty throughout the years. Queen Elizabeth I took it as far as to ban anyone other than close members of the royal family from wearing it. For centuries, purple has been associated with royalty and wealth. Its elite status comes from the scarcity and cost of the dye that was used to produce it. Purple fabric was incredibly expensive hence, only rulers could afford it. Queen Elizabeth II still regularly dons the royal eye-catching color.

But ultraviolet is not the purple we're used to or even the purple only royalty was entitled to. The year’s color is a step into the future. It communicates that we are here, we are strong and we are visionaries! Pantone sees this year’s color as a “spiritual, cosmic purple”. Just look up at the sky and see the faces of revolutionaries Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix and know you look fabulous! (Cause let’s be honest, have they ever steered you wrong?!)

I don’t know about you, but after the dreary months of winter, we all need a little pick me up with this delightful color! Come see your favorite fashionistas to help smoothly transition this year’s color into your already fab wardrobe.

If 2018 will teach us anything, the most important lessons will be to...

Be Bold. Be Brave. Be Undeniable.
